Good value for money.
The heating was not on - despite having a blanket it was a bit cold at night.
Dormitry style rooms. The place is quite isolated. A monkish experience.
The key was left for us in an envelope. Therefore we saw no hotel staff during our one night stay. Breakfast was laid out for us but again no staff. On our arrival we visited the Abbey shop and the two ladies there were most pleasant and socialable,
A little disappointed not to see at least one person from the hotel staff.
Quiet spot. Almost no noise in the vicinity except for the birds. Simple room without a TV
The peace and quiet and serenity.
We were a group of 9 English motorcyclists when, on arrival, were made most welcome. We knew the Abbey was basic accommodation but it was very clean, good showers and free WiFi. The beer from the Abbey was excellent. We will return,.
A lounge would be nice, although the weather allowed us to sit outside. As there was no alternative we sat in the dining room after our evening meal.
+ friendly and helpful receptionist (the venue didn't accept contactless payments which was all I had, but they found an alternative) + Good breakfast (coffee, toast, jam etc) + Quiet area
Although this is advertised as an abbey, you're not staying in an abbey. The dormatory is a completely separate building which is not actually part of the abbey (you have to pay to enter the abbey itself) and it's not historic in any way, feels like a hostel. Rooms were very, very, very basic - the single bed was tiny - decrepit, tatty furniture - no atmosphere
Simple but beautiful location with great breakfast and nice people
