Room was clean, comfortable, and sunny. I appreciated the fridge and microwave. I also enjoyed the fresh waffles for breakfast.
I had traveled across the border from Mexico and was driving all day on little sleep. I was extremely exhausted when I arrived. I only wanted to get to my room and nap before meeting with friends for dinner. I asked in the comment section when I booked the room for a room close to my car. I also requested this when I called reservations the next day to check on my rerservation. She said she would put it in the notes. But when I arrived, the clerk had no knowledge of my request, and said they didn't have such a room. They offered 3 different rooms, and the third one was great. I had some heavy pieces of luggage, a laptop and cooler. I got in the room, unpacked everything and put my food in the fridge. It was then that I heard the most ungodly loud noise from the unit above. It sounded like bowling balls being dropped and large objects being dragged. It continued on for a few hours with a few brief lapses. I went upstairs to see what it was, and they were painting and doing construction. I called the desk to ask if this could maybe happen another time, and they said, "No one is dropping bowling balls on your head" and "We have the right to have construction in the rooms without rescheduling for customers." He offered me another room still in close earshot of the construction, but I was exhausted and had already unpacked so I declined. I had specifically asked for a working bathtub. But when I went to take a bath, the drain was broken. The maintenance person wasn't due to arrive till 8 but I was already dressed. I mentioned the inconveniences to the manager the next day when I saw him at breakfast, just hoping for some sort of apology. Instead he defended the construction and said it was my choice because I didn't take the other room they offered. It seemed I was being a "Karen". Maybe $95 isn't much for a room these days (it's a lot for me), but geez, whatever happened to customer service? R.I.P. Customer Service.
