Big clean rooms that’s about it
Where should I start from? So disappointing. From the minute we arrived our stay went downhill. We are a couple in our honeymoon, we’re staying in a literal tree house before arriving to the Fairmont and were looking forward to some luxury but was an utter disaster. Firstly, we were waiting in line for 40 minutes to check in and then had to jump the queue unapologetically as a bunch of frat boys kept on coming in front and letting their friends in line. Unacceptable that the staff couldn’t realise we are older and not part of that group and let that happen. On top of that, we were on our honeymoon which was stated in written and verbal form. They assured us they gave us the best room only to be given a room right next to the lift, so when these frat boys left their parties at 2-3 am and wanted to go back to their rooms to continue their party, we were the ones suffering from the noise pollution. Then, less than 24 hours before checking in our room key stopped working so we go down to reception and instead of simply fixing it for us, they demanded we go to the back of the check in line and wait for all other customers to check in before they could fix our key. So guess what we did? WE PACKED OUR BAGS AND LEFT. I’ve stayed at some many different Fairmont around the world and this is by far the worst
Room 425 s.f all roomy clean staff excellent Location perfect Beautiful lobby bar
Comfortable bed. Good on site facilities. Reasonably convenient location
Pool area way too small and busy with crowds of teenagers. Everything is an extra. They don’t explain the costs up front so when you add up all the taxes and charges it is a very expensive hotel. Valet parking is $68 plus tax! Access to spa is chargeable. It’s a big and busy hotel but too many people and too much noise and location isn’t pretty. Near a highway and surrounded by construction.
Too notch
I was there for SXSW so there was very little time spent in the hotel. However I found it to be very quiet, with incredible rooms, great views and excellent cleanliness.
I think there is a daily charge for use of some services, regardless if you even use them or not. Maybe $35 a night but I can't remember. For this fee you apparently get to spend $15 on food or drink or something. However I was never given ANY details about this whatsoever, so I essentially paid $35 a night and received nothing in return. Furthermore, the WIFI is sketchy. They try to get you to pay for it by the day. I had to ask at the front desk for a password free of charge because I was not going to pay for Wifi. On the morning of check out, at 6am no less, they cut off my Wifi while I was in the middle of a work meeting zoom, utterly bizarre. It's a great hotel but keep an eye on these things because it feels really strange.
