Amazing location and view , helpful and kind staff . Quiet rooms , clean toilets and facilities , Well equipped kitchen . Laundry and drying machine available - low cost ( 2.5 for washing and 0.5 for 15 minutes of drying) . Few minutes driving from the lake and the city centre.
Poor signal and no Wifi was available in my room , but you can sit in the lobby or the kitchen and connect to wifi .
Affordable, comfortable, great place to stay.
Beautiful building, fantastic views. Nice and clean as always in yha.
Ambiance and overlooking view
Tight room
I am a widow of 78 and have cancer and a bad back . Used to drive to see family and back in a day but very tiring now as I drive from north yorkshire across to the fylde.. Family do not have a spare room.Trying to work out a way of spending more time and used to come to yha so decided to try this out and it has worked very well. I booked thursday and friday night so had friday to myself to have a break, calm down and rest . . the family only have saturday free really so staying here I was able to set off early and then spent time with them and drove home. Still weary but it worked out well .The location is lovely and very peacefull. The staff very helpful and pleasant. quite a lot of people staying., Partly for cost , but more because I dont sleep well and am often up about 4.30 - 5am, I choose to self cater and so if I am very early I can be very quiet but get showered and have some cereal and coffee and be off by about 6am. Not waiting for a couple of hours to get aq breakfast. This time I was struggling with my back, so did the same but was there to see the breakfast offering all very well laid out and done well by the staff. Have made a note to myself to have the cooked breakfast next time I am there . It looked great. Good information and leaflets and the staff were also helpful about what was available etc in the area. I had planned to go on the lake on a round trip cruise as not able to do much walking around, but raining and misty so changed my mind and drove up to Keswick and so forth. The bedroom was clean and tidy . I had booked a twin room but was given one with 5 beds in as it was free and the lower bunk was more space. . this was all just what I needed and i shall be back definitely and am probably going to rejoin after some years of not using them. I have two friends who also live alone, I
The biggest problem for me was that there were a lot of stairs, given my health carrying things and even at the moment walking far is both painful and difficult so struggled with that . Had to think carefully what I needed to take so that I did not have to go up and down often. The light on my bunk level was in a rather awkward place to reach to turn on and off. Dont think there is anything you can do being an old place but the floorboards on that landing really creaked and were very noisy. so to use the bathroom or when I wanted to very quietly leave, all my care to not disturb people and move silently was to no avail as the fllorboards creaked very loudly whenever you trod on them. Car park was tight obviously but I had requested space as a disabled driver with blue badge. Canot get in and out unless I open the door wide. Managed ok this time but it could be a problem in the summer or other busy times. Now cars are bigger it can be difficult to park in confined space but with particular regard to having to open a door wide to be able to get out. Minor things really . Not at all offputting to me coming again very soon Didnt find the bed very comfortable and thing that when youare renewing things a thicker mattress could make a difference I and my friends who are used to campling and sailing but cannot do that any more would like to come to yha but being quite old uncomfortable bed are rather offputting. Perhaps you might have a room with more comfortable beds that you charged a little more for > I think you would get quite a lot of business from older people who are not able to do things as before but would enjoy the simple pleasures of yha.
As always, another very pleasurable stay at the YHA in Windermere. Great location, superb staff, and the onsite food is very tasty, and great value for money. Will definitely stay again....

Had an excellent view. Outdoor sitting arrangement was nice to enjoy nature. Location wise its a bit tricky as you can't access the property without a car.
