Carcavelos Beach Hotel

The bed was comfortable and there was a sea view.

There was a lot of traffic on the road above the beach so too noisy to leave the balcony doors open at night. The furniture was very dark wood, and the carpet old and dark coloured making the room dismal and uninviting. The staff were not overly friendly or helpful.

Location was great. Close to the beach and the square where there is five good restaurants.

The front desk manager was abrupt and condescending. The first room I was assigned, and the door lock was broken. The wood splintered to the point that the door did not close. I went back to the front desk for a different room, with a lock. He was not happy, said it was fine. Finally, I was given a new room, the manager said "the hotel is very safe, you don't have to worry about locks." I am a female, solo traveller. Locks are relevant

The hotel, all of it. It's not even at two star standards.

Old Hotel, needs an upgrade. Very well located, and with a great staff.

Great view. Safe area and short walk from station. Excellent staff at reception. Good breakfast and the room was nice and clean.

Building works in the hotel started too early in the morning. 8am!!! No maanger in their right mind would agree to builders going full throttle with jack hammers when many guests were still asleep. Lots of people furious and he was nowehre to be seen. Also, just one working elevator for dozens of rooms (7 floors) Not great.
