Embarking on a tour at Disneyland can be a magical experience for visitors seeking something beyond the ordinary. Opting for a premium tour, such as the 'Happiest Haunts Tour', allows families to explore the park from a new perspective. These tours vary in topics and pricing, with costs ranging from just over $100 to $800 or more per person. During our visit last Halloween, my family, including two young children, decided to delve into the tour to experience Disneyland's offerings in a different light.
Our journey began at the guided tours booth in Town Square, a central plaza known for creating the perfect nostalgic vibe. The friendly attendants checked us in and handed over audio receivers with earpieces for adults and headphones for children. It's vital to inspect these devices for their battery levels beforehand, as a low battery could disrupt your experience by missing out on precious information from your guide.
Throughout the tour, we had the chance to engage in unique experiences, starting with a special photo opportunity with the notorious hitchhiking ghosts. Our guide provided insightful info on the history of Halloween, Disneyland, and even some hidden trivia gems. While the focus was less ghost-centric than anticipated, the historical narratives and trivia made up for it. Each segment of the tour was punctuated by engaging storytelling, making the journey through tomorrow land, Fantasyland, Frontierland, and New Orleans Square an enchanting voyage.
When embarking on a Disneyland tour, it's wise to wear comfortable shoes due to all the standing and walking involved—my personal recommendation is Brooks running shoes for optimal comfort. Meanwhile, carrying a portable battery charger, like the Anker Power Core Plus, can help ensure your devices remain juiced for capturing every precious moment. Remember, there is a restroom break midway through, but no seated breaks, so prepare accordingly for your adventure.
Despite some drawbacks, such as limited ride access through the Lightning Lane and an obstructed view of the Halloween Screams show, we derived immense enjoyment from our time. The tour we joined did not match some of the advertised benefits from prior years, yet the shared knowledge and unique insights ensured we had a worthwhile experience at Disneyland. Whether you're a first-timer or revisiting in search of something new, these tours offer varying levels of magic and adventure.
