If you’re looking for an unforgettable winter adventure near Ottawa, a trip to Omega Park and Montebello is a must! We took this road trip from Ottawa, making a stop in Montebello for lunch before heading to the park. This guide will help you plan your visit, with tips to make your experience even better. Road Trip Plan 🚗❄️ Starting Point: Ottawa 🏙️ First Stop: Montebello for lunch 🍽️ and a visit to the famous Montebello Cheese Factory 🧀 Main Attraction: Parc Omega 🦌 – a unique wildlife park where you can interact with animals from your car 🚙
Before heading to Omega Park, we stopped in Montebello, a picturesque town known for its cozy atmosphere and delicious food. Here’s what we recommend: Montebello Cheese Factory Restaurant 🧀🍴: This spot is perfect for a warm, delicious meal before continuing your adventure. Try their cheese-based dishes and take home some fresh local cheese. Montebello Dairy Factory 🧀🏭: If you have time, check out the cheese production process and pick up some unique flavors to enjoy later. Château Montebello 🏰: If you want to explore more, take a short walk around the world’s largest log cabin, Fairmont Le Château Montebello, which looks like a winter fairytale.
Located just 10 minutes from Montebello, Park Omega is an amazing drive-through wildlife park where you can see Canadian animals up close in their natural habitat. What to Expect at Omega Park 🦌🦊 Drive-Through Safari 🚙🦌: Stay warm in your car while feeding friendly animals like deer and elk. Bring a bag of carrots 🥕—the animals love them! Wolf and Bear Observation Areas 🐺🐻: In winter, the wolves are especially active and make for a breathtaking sight. Hiking Trails & Cabins 🏞️🏠: If you want to explore on foot, there are walking trails and even cozy cabins to rent for an overnight stay. Ice & Snow Activities ⛷️❄️: Depending on the weather, you might also find fun winter activities such as sledding or snowshoeing.
✔ Bring Carrots – The animals love them, and feeding them is a highlight of the trip! ✔ Dress Warmly – Even though you’ll be in the car most of the time, you’ll want warm clothing for short walks and photos. ✔ Check Road Conditions – The drive from Ottawa and within the park can be snowy and icy in winter. ✔ Book in Advance – Omega Park is a popular destination, so check for ticket availability, especially on weekends. ✔ Prepare for Scenic Views – The park and Montebello both offer stunning winter landscapes, so bring a good camera!
Visiting Park Omega in winter is a magical experience, and stopping in Montebello makes the trip even more special. Whether you’re traveling with family, friends, or on a solo adventure, this guide will help you make the most of your journey. Don't forget your carrots 🥕, and enjoy your winter road trip! 🚗❄️
