During our last trip to Bangkok, I didn't fall in love with the city. However, my return visit to the famed Wat Pho, home of the Reclining Buddha, transformed my perception. Known for its grandeur, the Buddha is a remarkable 46 meters long. This temple is a must-see on any Bangkok itinerary, offering a glimpse into the cultural richness that defines Thailand.
Traveling to Wat Arun from Wat Pho is best done by the local ferry. Despite the chaos and unpredictable schedules typical of Bangkok's water transport, the experience is quintessentially Thai. The ferry ride offers a unique view of Bangkok’s bustling waterways and is an adventure in itself, especially for travelers accustomed to more regimented transport systems.
Wat Arun, or the Temple of the Dawn, provides a stunning backdrop for both amateur and professional photographers. Adorned with porcelain and seashell mosaics that glint in the sunlight, Wat Arun is also a place where you can witness traditional Thai costumes enhance the temple’s vibrant atmosphere. It's a beautiful spot where culture and artistry converge.
One cannot visit Bangkok without indulging in its culinary delights. Mother Roaster coffee shop is a must-visit for any coffee enthusiast. Here, traditional Thai flavors like the 'dark kalamansi' and the espresso-infused 'hidden shadow' await. Coupled with local delicacies like Thai milk tea, Bangkok’s street food and drink scene promises to satisfy any foodie’s cravings.
Bangkok is full of comfortable accommodations suitable for any type of traveler. We stayed at a Marriott property, providing a restful haven after our days of exploration. Its proximity to attractions and luxury amenities make it an ideal choice for those looking to experience Bangkok comfortably and affordably.
Whether it's your first visit or you're rediscovering the city, Bangkok’s vibrant culture, rich history, and delicious street food make it an enchanting destination. If you're planning a trip, ensure you add these locations to your itinerary for an unforgettable Thai experience.
