Guide to Visiting San Diego, California

San Diego is one of those places that just feels good the moment you arrive. The sun is always shining, the ocean breeze is constant, and there’s this relaxed, happy vibe that’s hard to describe until you experience it yourself. You can spend your mornings by the water, wander through different neighborhoods in the afternoon, and end the day with a sunset that somehow never gets old. It’s simple, fun, and beautiful—basically everything you want in a California getaway.

Where to Stay

When planning your San Diego trip, I recommend staying downtown or close to the water. Being near the marina makes everything feel walkable and easy, while the Gaslamp Quarter puts you steps away from great restaurants and nightlife. It really depends on whether you want peaceful harbor mornings or a livelier city vibe at night—but honestly, you can’t go wrong either way.

What to See

Start with a walk along the Embarcadero—it’s such an easy, scenic way to get a feel for the city. From there, head over to Balboa Park and explore the beautiful gardens, museums, and Spanish-style architecture.

When you’re ready for a break, head to Little Italy for coffee or a bite to eat. If you’re in the mood for the beach, Coronado Island is always a solid choice. It’s clean, spacious, and super relaxing.

And then there’s Sunset Cliffs. If you do one thing at the end of the day, make it this. Watching the sun dip into the Pacific there is pure California magic.

Where to Eat & Drink

Of course, you’ll want to grab tacos while you’re in San Diego, but there are also so many great restaurants, brunch spots, and places to go out across the city. From a fun, colorful meal at Morning Glory to a more polished dinner at Born & Raised, there’s a nice mix of laid-back and elevated here.
