Begin your New York City adventure by flying into JFK, an airport that offers convenient public transport options into the city. We were exhausted from our journey from Lisbon via Madrid, so we opted for a taxi to our hotel. For those aiming for convenience, staying near Times Square is ideal, as it saves you the hustle of long subway rides. The DoubleTree Hilton was our choice, with its close proximity to the vibrant Times Square.
As we walked through Times Square, the electric energy of the city was unmistakable. We started our exploration with breakfast at the iconic McDonald's in Times Square, offering unparalleled views of the bustling streets below. Our adventure continued to the delightful M&M's World, full of colorful surprises and sweet memories.
Navigating New York City was made easy with the New York Pass. We hopped on the Hop On Hop Off bus, taking in the sights at our own pace. The pass also included entry to various attractions, allowing us to maximize our experience for a fraction of the cost. From the financial district to interactive exhibitions, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
A visit to the 9/11 Memorial is a humbling experience. The tranquil fountains and engraved names serve as a powerful reminder of the past. It's a site that embodies both beauty and somberness, offering visitors a space for reflection and respect.
The journey continued with a cruise via Statue City Cruises, a highlight for many visitors. This trip provides not just close-up views of the famed Statue of Liberty but also picturesque vistas of the New York skyline. The sight of cherry blossoms in spring enhanced our cruise, making it a memorable moment.
Views from above add a new dimension to the New York experience. Stops at the One World Observatory and Empire State Building were part of our itinerary, each offering distinct vantage points of the city. Whether soaking in the view with a drink in hand or marveling at the architectural grandeur, these skyscrapers present the city in its best light.
Central Park and Washington Square Park offer a change of pace from the city's fast-moving streets. Our walks through these parks were leisurely and relaxing, providing a perfect escape amidst nature. Taking the subway to various destinations also added convenience to our journey, giving us more time to unwind and explore.
New York's theatrical scene is unmatched. From the mesmerizing show at Broadway to the enchanting world of Harry Potter, these experiences brought joy and entertainment to our itinerary. Whether you're a theater fan or a Potterhead, there's something magical in attending a show here.
One of the most thrilling experiences of our trip was the open-door helicopter ride with FlyNYON. Seeing New York from the skies is nothing short of breathtaking. Daring souls and adventure seekers will find this experience unforgettable, offering stunning aerial views and a unique perspective of the iconic landscape.
Our final days in New York were spent savoring the city's classic experiences. Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge and exploring the artistic vibe of DUMBO brought our journey to a delightful conclusion. Our escape to Bryant Park gave us a serene moment before departing, ending an unforgettable adventure in the city that never sleeps.
