Needing a break from the Canadian winter and a vacation we didn't need to overly plan or think about, we booked 7 nights at an Adults Only All Inclusive in Mexico, with a direct flight. It was the most seamless, beautiful and decision free travel experience we have had in a very long time.

Some of the great things about Mexico is that it's hot, sunny, easy to get to, easy to get around and you can very much just be a tourist if you want. In a couple of hours between flight + transport to the hotel, you are on the beach, with multiple eating options and no need to worry about directions, FOMO or anything like it.

We choose the Hilton for a couple reasons
1. It's on the beach, with a private beach.
2. It's a block away from fifth avenue (the walk spot, standard tourist stretch, amazing place to run a couple miles in the mornings, and jump point for any attraction/tour)
3. It had 10+ dining options, with a variety of cuisines, coffee bar and bakery
4. Adults only and large rooms.
One of our favorite restaurants onsite was Asiana, an asian fusion place that's a part of the property but actually not attached and open to the public.
We laid our vacation out with 2 days of hotel sun and pool, 1 day excursion/tour on repeat. Our first day tour has three stops over 6-hours and got us back for dinner, which was perfect.

Stop 1 - Tulum Archaeological Zone, 2 hours was just enough but if you're into history you might want more time to explore the park.

Stop 2 - Private Cenote, which was just an incredibly neat experience.

Stop 3 - Private beach club and taco, to relax, eat and enjoy some views.
Our second activity (near the end of the trip) was the Xplor park which is the adventure park version of Xcaret and for anyone that like to be active and not surrounded by kids, they place is awesome. 6-8 hours flys by and you get to:
- zipline air and water
- cenote walk, swim, paddle underground
- ATV/jeep course and waterslide if you're up for it

Plus they have a very respectable, large, open buffet with healthy options and amazingly nice staff everyone.
Cancun / Playa is your typical hot and relax destination. It is one of the most beautiful and stress free places to hangout for a week. Not something we would be every year but maybe every other just for the ease of planning, beauty, heat and simplicity.
