Begin Your Adventure at Dalyan Harbor

A mere 10-minute walk from our hotel, Dalyan Harbor is the heart of this charming town. With its boats gently bobbing in the water and vibrant local life, it's a beautiful place to start your daily adventures. Before embarking on a boat tour, we stopped by a cozy café nearby. Its delightful shelves filled with books and the taste of their organic cookies made the perfect accompaniment to a leisurely morning coffee.

Sail Through Dalyan River's Wonders

The Dalyan River offers a picturesque passage through the region's natural beauty. We were fortunate to book a private tour with Mutlu, also known as "Happy Captain", who not only fit our budget but also delivered an unforgettable experience. As we sailed, we marveled at the ancient Kaunos Rock Tombs, spectacularly carved into the cliffs. These historical wonders, along the riverbank, date back to 400 BC, offering a glimpse into the area's rich past.

İztuzu Beach: Haven for Sea Turtles

A highlight of our journey, İztuzu Beach, also known as Turtle Beach, is a pristine stretch of sand known for being a major breeding ground for loggerhead sea turtles. As we arrived, we were lucky to witness several turtles swimming gracefully in the clear waters. The beach itself is one of Turkey's most beautiful, free from the clutter of large resorts, allowing visitors to connect deeply with nature.

Just adjacent to the beach, the Dekamer Sea Turtle Rescue Center works tirelessly to rehabilitate injured and sick sea turtles. It's a must-visit for anyone interested in marine conservation, as it provides invaluable insights into their work and the plight of these majestic creatures. Visitors are encouraged to observe quietly and do not forget to support their efforts through donations.

If you want to enjoy the most stunning view over Iztuzu Beach, you can drive the dirty track road that leads to the "Radar Tepe Manzara Noktası". But be extremely careful! When the path became too rocky for our rental car, we decided to hike for the last 15 minutes instead of risking a puncture in one of our tyres. This breathtaking viewpoint is the perfect ending for an adventurous trip to Dalyan.
