On our walking tour through the heart of Mexico City, you will immerse yourself in centuries of history, culture and traditions that have shaped this vibrant metropolis. We begin at the Zócalo, the imposing central plaza surrounded by some of the city's most important buildings.
Here, in front of the Metropolitan Cathedral, we will tell you about the origins of Mexico-Tenochtitlan and the transformation of the country from the Aztec empire to modern Mexico City. We will go inside and see the impressive architecture.
A few steps outside, we will explain the ruins of the Templo Mayor, a reminder of the splendor of the ancient Aztec capital. You will see how the layers of history intertwine as we walk among the colonial and modern structures that dominate the area today.
Throughout the tour, we will explore the three great eras of Mexican history: pre-Hispanic Mexico, the Viceroyalty and the Republic. Every corner of the historic center is filled with stories about key figures, from presidents and artists to characters that marked the course of the nation: Hernán Cortés, Diego Rivera, Pancho Villa, Zapata, Porfirio Díaz, Moctezuma and women who conquered our hearts.
We will visit, from the outside, the Plaza de Santo Domingo, where you will learn about the influence of the Dominican order, and the Plaza Manuel Tolsá, with its impressive 19th century architecture and the monumental equestrian statue of Carlos IV.
Not only will you see the most emblematic buildings, but you will also discover local secrets that will make you feel like a true connoisseur of the city. From the best places to eat tacos to hidden spots perfect for taking stunning photographs, our tour will take you beyond the typical tourist spots.
Plus, you'll learn about everyday life in Mexico City: how to get around its public transportation system, why the streets are so clean, and what distinguishes locals when looking for the best places to eat. This tour is not just a history lesson, but an immersion into the modern and vibrant life of the capital.
We'll end up in places you won't find in tour guides, giving you a unique and unforgettable experience of Mexico City. It is the perfect introduction for any visitor who wants to make the most of their stay in this incredible city.

Empezamos como 30 minutos tarde Dijeron q era 3 horas pero duró 2 Pensamos q íbamos a entrar a museo ay lugares interesantes Estuvo regular
This was a fairly standard city tour. I often take these kinds of tours on my first day to get a sense of the city’s layout and highlight spots I might want to revisit. Unfortunately, this one fell a bit flat in terms of insight and engagement. While it covered the major landmarks, it lacked the depth or storytelling that makes a city come alive. I didn’t walk away with much more context or excitement than I came in with.
I went to Zocalo Square two hours ago, but I couldn't find my guide.
unfortunately my guide wasn't worth the price of the tour. 2 + hours of nothing much.
This was an excellent tour and covered so much information about the history of the city. I really enjoyed walking through both the historical and cultural sites. I highly recommend this tour.
Thomas was an incredible Guide. He spoke very good English and had a profound knowledge. We totally recommend this tour.
Gabriel was very informative and gave a lot of interesting facts about the historical area. My only complaint was that we finished almost an hour early but perhaps our group were fast walkers!! Recommend taking the tour as you learn so much more than wondering about by yourself!
Amazing, thank you Netza for our your knowledge, energy and excitement during the tour!!
Loved the tour with 6 of us. Thomas was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic - learned so much about Mexico City and its amazing history. Loads of fun. I strongly recommend that the tour starts moving earlier and the history of the different eras get abbreviated a little and delivered more as the tour moves along. We started by standing in one spot and listening for way too long before we actually started walking. This was not just my view- the other people in the group who were strangers to us told us the same thing. It was all good stuff but would improve with a much shorter introduction and then starting walking. Otherwise Thomas was a great guide.
