After being picked up, sit back, relax and enjoy the 60 mile (97 kms) journey out to Chena Hot Springs Resort. Keep a lookout for wildlife that might include a moose, beaver or fox.
Upon arrival, you’ll be given a guided tour of the Aurora Ice Museum, constructed of over 1000 tons of ice and snow. Marvel at magnificent ice-sculptures created by world-renowned ice carvers, sit at the ice bar on a caribou-hide covered bar stool or indulge in an appletini served in a hand-carved ice glass (optional-not included in price).
You will then be shown to our table in the restaurant where you can enjoy some dinner and hot or cold beverages (optional and not included in price).
Enjoy a hot or cold beverage at the bar or don your bathing suit and head to the hot springs. The revitalizing mineral water soothes muscles with its warm temperatures of 106 degrees F (41 degrees C) year-round. You can soak under the stars in an outdoor hot tub, or indoors in the heated pool. Chena Hot Springs is a great spot to witness the green and purple ribbons of light dancing in the sky. If you prefer to be indoors, you can grab a warm beverage to wrap your hands around and view the action from inside the Aurora Café.
Rejoin your group a little after midnight and head back to Fairbanks. Your guide may make a few stops along the way for further aurora viewing if it is active. Please note the aurora is an act of nature and it's appearance cannot be guaranteed.
Approximate return time to hotels is between 2am and 3am, depending on location.

Liked the fact that the guide had a microphone & gave facts as she drove along. Very informative. & although we saw spectacular lights at Chena, she still tried to find other vantage points as we returned. The dinner at the restaurant was the only negative. Food was mediocre & took too long. It cut into the length of time to enjoy the Springs
Everything is good. We had the good experience with hot springs and northern lights. About restaurant, they made me disappointed about price and quality of food and service. And also the tour guide is also driver, he's nice and friendly. On the road we saw moose and northern lights too. Let's try
Greg was too fun and the food was delicious. best part? we saw the northern lights. inspite of already viewing it from the Hot springs area he drove us to a spot further north with less light pollution where the view was spectacular. the lights danced across the sky.
Gina made our Fairbanks trip unforgettable! We relaxed at Chena Hot Springs, explored the stunning Aurora Ice Museum, and witnessed the Northern Lights in the perfect spot. Her expertise and enthusiasm made the experience truly special. Highly recommend!
wonderful experience
Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly and showed me how to set my camera to photograph the northern lights. The hot springs were amazing. Ice bar and hotel —so cool. Excellent combination activities. Highly recommend.
If you're looking for a once-in-a-lifetime experience in Alaska, look no further! Our tour with Gina was absolutely incredible—she is not only an expert guide but also a warm, engaging, and truly passionate person who made this trip unforgettable. The Ice Museum was a magical experience—walking through beautifully carved ice sculptures felt like stepping into another world. Then, soaking in the hot springs under the open sky was pure bliss, the perfect way to relax and take in the beauty of Alaska. But the highlight of the trip? Witnessing the northern lights! Definitely worth to take it!
Our guide Christopher was knowledgeable and accommodating. The hot spring was a unique experience. We got lucky and got a great views of the lights.
I loved the Chena Hot Springs and going to the ice museum. Gina was a very great guide as she explained a lot and told us a lot of storys on the way to the Hot Springs, she was really patient with waiting to show us the Northern lights and gave her best to ensure that we see them, which turned out to be a success.
