Lepa was the best, she made the day very interesting. Definitely would recommend her and the trip.
It was fantastic! So happy to do this trip. Jeff our guide had lots of information to share. Excellent driver on this twisty road. The
Breakfast wasn’t provided, except to one person, and she received that spam item. All the rest of us were out of luck. But we ordered sub sandwiches as did the one person that got the spam item and because she got the breakfast item she didn’t get a sub. I gave her half of my sub. He wouldn’t stop at places we asked him to do. We all wanted this trip to end…
Lepa was very professional, knowledgeable, caring and made sure that we were comfortable throughout our tour of the Road to Hana. We saw a lot of beautiful, interesting sights and foods to try.
Rained off and on which was the biggest issue. Also, black sand beach was closed so we couldn’t see that. All in all trip was good.
The Road to Hana didn't disappoint in visuals but the tour itself got off to a rough start with a confrontational tone from the tour operators regarding confusion with the pick up. The timing at the stops was inconsistent - a bit long for some and not long enough for others. We were also promised a swim in a waterfall but it never happened. Ed, our guide, really tried hard and his knowledge of the area was excellent, but the tour itself needs better organization and management. This was a really expensive tour and it fell short in terms of value for the money.
It was really fun! Two things we didn't care for and that was some of the guests were getting car sick since you're in a small bus going around corners. It's a very windy road to Hana. The other thing we wished there was different options for lunch. We had a great tour guide that grew up there and she was fun and informative. I can't remember her name in Hawaiian though. She was great!
Not good. Stops were OK. Guide/Driver (Tom) was terrible! Walk to meeting spot too far. He "assigned seats" without knowing anything about the passengers even though my husband & I were there 1st, our canes were obvious, & we explained my need to see out the front so as not to get sick. He absolutely refused to alter his seating plan. Another elderly woman with a cane, was made to squeeze into the back. It was difficult getting into the van without a step that companies usually provide. He put the youngest, most able bodied group of 4 in the front with him and the bench seat behind him. I had to close my eyes the 1st half of the trip to try to not get sick so missed everything except stops. When I DID get sick, he switched the young boy up front and I. I was OK after that but the 3 of us were upset and our day spoiled. We shouldn't have tipped him, but did. He chastised the group of 4 for not tipping enough. The other elderly woman did not tip him.
