Good value for money, but just a transfer to the pools, no guide
There really wasn’t a tour, the guide just told us to meet back at the van at a certain time, so it was all self guided. I thought it was fun! I also thing it could be dangerous like any national park back in the states, there were very little guard rails or anything to prevent you from walking right up to the edge of the cliff and falling off, and I saw a lot of influencers on the edge of the cliff, making videos, and the wind was quite gusty, and I was predicting that any moment someone would die! I thought it was fun. I didn’t go on any of the trails. Some other people on our Tripp did and they said they were basically no signs to tell you how many kilometers the trail was and I’m glad I stayed at the top and just swim in the natural pools
This was a great way to see Hierve el Agua. It was a great amount of time and a good balance between a guided hike and free time to explore on your own. Both our guides - on the bus - and for the hike, where extremely kind, informative and helpful. The only thing I will mention is that they recommend you pack a lunch, but there is ton of food and drink available when you arrive, so that's really not necessary. I would recommend this excursion!
Great! Exactly as described. Guide was great and friendly!
For me, it's not a must-see in Oaxaca. It's essentially a short hike and some very touristy natural pools. The guide gave us 2h30 of free time, so there was little added value. I find the price a bit high for the service/attraction.
My partner and I had a great time. Our guide was kind and helpful, and the shuttle was comfortable. Everything went quite seamlessly. The actual destination for the tour was absolutely beautiful. I did not give a full five stars as both the website, and the whatsapp message we received with details about the tour, indicated the shuttle would be dropping us off at our airbnb/hotel if we wanted. In the end, we were denied that option. Our airbnb was closeby the general drop-off point, so it was not the biggest deal. But it also was not what we necessarily paid for/were told about the tour.
Beautiful place, but the organization could be improved. Hierve el Agua is definitely worth a visit – the view is breathtaking and the pools offer a pleasantly cool dip. Unfortunately, the organization of the tour was not quite as convincing: We started later than planned (around 10:30 a.m.) and therefore only had 2.5 hours there instead of the advertised 3. It would also have been helpful to have been informed in advance that this was a circular route leading to the base of the petrified waterfall – that would have helped us manage our time better. We also didn't feel entirely comfortable during the journey because the driver was moving very quickly. Overall, a nice trip with potential for improvement in communication and transportation.
