In the morning you will be picked up from your hotel in Cusco at 4:00 AM and transferred to the Ollantaytambo train station (approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes car trip). If the train leaves from Poroy the car trip is 30 minutes, then take a 3 and a half hour train trip.
Once at the Ollantaytambo train station at 6:10 AM you will board the train to go to the town of Aguas Calientes (town of Machu Picchu) on the train trip you will enjoy extraordinary landscapes, mountains, rivers and streams. You will also be able to appreciate the flora and fauna of this area of Cusco.
Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town), the agency staff will be waiting for you to give you all the instructions, then go to the bus station where you will board the bus that takes a zigzag route to the mountain where the majestic citadel of Machu Picchu is located (30-minute bus trip).
Upon getting off the bus you will go to the entrance of Machu Picchu, where you must present the tickets and respective identification documents. From this place the guided tour of the citadel of Machu Picchu will begin. You will visit the main sites of the city with our guide who will give you all the information and history of Machu Picchu for approximately 2 hours.
On the tour you will open your senses and be filled with the great energy that this majestic place hides. At the appropriate time you must take the bus back to the town of Aguas Calientes where you can enjoy lunch in one of the restaurants and optionally you can visit the thermo-medicinal baths (lunch or entrance is at your own expense).

I was taken care off from the start to end so there is always someone with me and the tour is a very small group 1-3 pax on each leg of the tour. They are also very responsive to my questions. However, I had some issues with my machu picchu ticket as they gave me a ticket slot that is a lot earlier than my arrival time - 6am ticket slot while I will arrive at 9am - so this causes issues with the entry officers which made caused me wait for 1 hour at the entrance with some fights between the tour agent and officer. While I managed to get in, I can’t say for sure that you will be allowed entry next time, if you did not manage to get to the entry gate at the allotted time as this depends on the officers’ courtesy.
I have serious conserns about your cooperating partner in Cusco; Libertrek Buying tickets months in advance (14.3) and departure 13.7 it should be possible for a married couple to sit together in the train, but we had to sit in different carriages B and C. We also got in trubble arriving too late to the entrance. We were denied access to the museum. The ticket said 12:00pm with an tolerance within 45 minutes , Libertrek must have known that this was going to be impossible as the train arrived in Machu Picchu 12:50pm and we had to wait for the bus which takes 25 minutes up to Machu Picchu However, our guide solved the problem and persuaded the ticket inspector to let us in. Last; We did not receive a return bus ticket to Cusco. We were initially told that we would have to arrange and pay for this ourselves, but after contacting several people at InkaTrail we got our own driver along with two Japanese girls. The same thing seemed to have happened to them.
I love it! Thank you for the arrangement!

the return trip by bus
Well organised from A to Z. The trip took 18h. I left at 3.30am and got to Machu Pitchu entrance at 9am. I was lucky to have sun & blue sky. I did itinerary 1 which is easy but do not have access to all parts of the site. check well details on your booking given by the travel agency (names, trip date, time etc.). I lost my return train ticket and the Agency was very responsive and sent a digital copy. overall a great experience and breathtaking.
