Join an international group for a comfortable bus ride out of Sofia's bustling center. In just a short drive, you'll arrive at the magnificent Boyana Church. Step inside this UNESCO World Heritage Site to discover its historically important frescoes and witness their striking emotional power.
IMPORTANT: UNESCO limits mean time slots sell out well in advance! By selecting this option, you agree to a mandatory local payment for the entry ticket (cash to guide or online). Because we pre-secure your rare spot, this fee is 100% non-refundable and you cannot opt out on the day of the tour. Please only book if you are certain you want to visit inside, so you don't block a ticket from another traveler.
Afterwards, enjoy a scenic 90-minute drive through a beautiful countryside and mesmerizing mountains to the Rila Monastery, the largest and most significant Orthodox cloister in Bulgaria. Upon arrival, you can choose to join your dedicated guide for a captivating tour of the monastic complex or explore this magnificent UNESCO site on your own. During your free time, you can also enjoy and photograph the amazing mountain views, try some local food (taste the famous Bulgarian mekitsi), or visit the monastery's interesting museums.
Finally, you can relax on your smooth journey back to Sofia. You will have time to look through your photos, relive the day's experiences, and admire the last views of the beautiful countryside. You will be back in Sofia's center around 5:30 pm.

Boyana Church Entry: Admission to the church interior is only included if you specifically selected a "With Boyana Church" option at checkout. All other options do not include entry.
Time & Group Limits: To preserve the fragile frescoes, interior visits to Boyana Church are strictly limited to 10 minutes per group (maximum 8-10 people inside at a time).
Waiting Times: Please be prepared for potential queuing and wait times before entering the church.
Holiday Closures: Boyana Church is closed on January 1st, Orthodox Easter Sunday, and December 24th & 25th. On these dates, the tour will visit Rila Monastery only.
Free Admission Days: The church offers free admission on the last Monday of each month. However, due to extremely high demand, entry on these days cannot be guaranteed.
Return Times: The tour duration is dynamic. Please expect later return times to Sofia during peak seasons, Bulgarian national holidays, or when traveling with large groups.
