Regarding transportation, the website offered a French guide, which is why we chose this option, but at the last minute we were told that this option was not available... a big problem when you don't speak English well and there are four of you! Regarding transportation, the driver was an hour and a half late, which is unacceptable, and we didn't even receive an apology from the organizer for the guide or the delay. We are not at all satisfied with this. The visit to the tea farm, on the other hand, was magical! A beautiful place worthy of a fairy tale. Tea fields as far as the eye can see. Superb vegetation, a lovely host and all the staff. A perfect tea tasting and cakes - an excellent meal. A very beautiful experience.
The Kiambethu Tea Farm is an absolutely stunning place and lunch was absolutely lovely. To see the tea plantations, local tea and biscuits in the garden, walk through the farm (the cows provide the cream and milk used in the ice cream) and woods, then a lovely lunch buffet. The downside is that booking this trip with this company did not include any of that, despite the listing that said it included lunch and activities. At the end of the listing, it says you have to pay for the entrance, which is for all the things the listing says was included. Very deceptive. One woman paid double ($63USD) and then had to pay again. All you got was a ride to location. The driver went to the wrong address so we arrived late, missing the first 15 minutes of the talk. The company did not make our reservation with the plantation --we arrived unannounced. Luckily they let us stay and made room for us. My recommendation: book directly with Kiambethu, & arrange your own transportation.
Punctuality, we arrived one hour before :)
Very warm welcome at the farm, beautiful scenery and excellent food. Thank you for this wonderful experience.
It was even better than a 5 star experience. Learnt so much about tea including how to differentiate it from coffee. The tea tasted great and the views were incredible! Learned a lot about traditional medicine too in the forest walk which was refreshing. The lunch was a fresh and delicious home cooked meal, and the ice is one of the richest I've tasted in while, 10/10 (skip it if you hate cream). The lunch was also extremely inclusive offering vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options. The place is gorgeous, peaceful, and homey. Fiona, Maureen, and Julius were great and knowledgeable hosts. Would 1000% recommend if you're looking for a calming, wholesome activity.
It was a pleasant tour, beautiful surroundings, detailed information on tea growing. Food was excellent. I am not a vegetarian but the vegetarian option was delicious!
Very nice day trip to a tea plantation near Nairobi. Informative and relaxing. Also a very nice lunch served at the plantation.
We were very happy with everything and we enjoyed the beautiful garden and great food
The experience of giving us opportunities to explore tea processes and plantations is worth to remember. The lady host of the plantation who conducted a talk and demonstration on Kenyan Tea was very cordial and pleasant ad well as all her plantation and house workers. They were all friendly and very warm. Our home-made lunch was fantastic. It’s simple yet very tasteful and organic. The house itself provides a homey vibes and truly welcoming. My guide named “Johnson” was also cordial and knowledgeable. He was very conversant and trustworthy.
