Seeing Iceland’s volcanic fields on a horse, with local guides who know the area like the back of their hands on this 1.5-2 hour horse-riding excursion from Reykjavík, with optional transfer. Enjoy friendly horses on excellent riding paths at the Íshestar Stables in Hafnarfjörður.
Ride through lava fields and along beautiful green hillsides. Look for different rock formations in the lava while experiencing the special smooth gait of these horses, known as tölt.
The Íshestar Stables are unique in Iceland with fantastic facilities set in beautiful surroundings just outside the town of Hafnarfjörður, about a 20-minute drive from Reykjavík. The facilities and the fascinating area provide endless opportunities for riding, hiking, and other outdoor activities.
The changing room of the Stables is well-equipped. All customers are offered warm overalls, rain gear, and helmets in their sizes. The Íshestar staff take pride in finding horses to suit individual needs, as well as secure the safety of everybody.

Riding gear (riding boots, riding trousers, jackets, hats, gloves, etc.) needs to be washed (40°C), dry cleaned or disinfected before arriving in Iceland. Used leather gear may not be brought into the country
You cannot take any backpacks or bags with you on the ride but those can be stored at the riding center while you ride.
The riding tour is 1.5-2 hours long (4 hours 15min with transfer).
So ein tolles Erlebnis - muss man auf jeden Fall auf Island gemacht haben. Anfangs wurde gefragt, ob man schonmal geritten ist und dann wurde ein Pferd ausgesucht. Wir sind durch ein Lavafeld geritten und hatten sogar richtig Glück mit der Sonne. Es war trotzdem sehr kalt, aber man konnte sich auch einen warmen Overall ausleihen, der einen schön warm gehalten hat. Vorher haben wir vor Ort noch einen Kaffee getrunken und konnten uns den Stall anschauen. Toll!

Rundum ein wunderschöner Ausflug! Alle würden den Ausflug sofort wiederholen! Wir haben mit sechs Freundinnen (um die 60 Jahre alt, alle sportlich) die Tour gemacht. Nur zwei hatten Reiterfahrung. Es hat allen super gefallen. Vor allem die Betreuung durch die Guides und die zauberhaften Pferde. Niemand hatte den Eindruck, dass es den Pferden irgendwie schlecht geht. Die Ställe und das ganze Gestüt sehr gemütlich und gepflegt. Alkoholfreie Getränke (Kaffee, Kakao, Wasser) inklusive .So brave gepflegte Tiere, die den ca 1,5 stündigen Weg im Schritt gegangen sind, ohne dass wir viel tun mussten. Es gab eine Einführung und auch während der Tour waren die freundlichen Frauen jederzeit für uns da und haben sogar tolle Fotos und Videos mit unseren Handys gemacht.

Das war ganz toll! Es gab eine schnelle und eine langsame Gruppe und die Aufteilung klappte super! Die Pferde waren toll!
