We travelled all the way from Western Canada for a family reunion. Cruising down the Mississippi River seeing NOLA from the water & hearing about the Battle of New Orleans. What I was looking forward to was hearing about Hurricane Katrina as had friends from Canada where we're from told us to book this cruise as they said it was the highlight of their trip to NO their tour guide spoke all about Hurricane Katrina on the way back to the city. On our way back there was silence. No talking of any kind and not even an opportunity to ask the lady any questions. No guide in sight. It was disappointing for sure. I believe slightly overpriced in my opinion. I felt let down for sure and wish we were lucky enough like our friends to have the other guide who was way more informative and not all about the war stories. Something to be added for tourists more relatable & all the devastation of 2005 Hurricane Katrina & what it did to the city of New Orleans. My family of 5 left the boat underwhelmed
This was a ‘history’ cruise and the very reason we booked it. The sights from the river were nothing special but we liked the idea of visiting Chalmette battle field. We were given 1h and it was a ludicrous amount of time: by the time we all disembarked and reached the park ranger in front of the visitor center a 15 minutes were gone. The ranger spoke for about 5-10 min and as we got inside the center almost 30 minutes has passed. There were a few exhibits and 2 videos lasting about 10 min each. One of the video was half through as we entered so we waited to restart. We quickly moved to the second of the two rooms center and realised that we would have not had time to watch it and get back to the ship on time! It was a huge disappointment and certainly not worth the money we paid. Don’t book it if you are interested in visiting the site.
it was a greatvcruise o really couldn't add anything more to it
History
cruise was great save ur money and dont get the food ticket the food was a 0/10!!
Fabulous cruise couldn't fault it.
Need bigger sign, it was hard to find. Make it easier for the handicapped. We took my blind aunt and we loved it after we got on boat but it was tough getting to the boat.
The guide was great. The visit to the battlefield was amazing with an excellent history provided by the historical guide. The only regret I have is that this boat is diesel powered whereas the Natchez is original steam boat. I wish I had known the difference when I was booking. The staff was friendly. It rained most of the cruise, but there was plenty of indoor seating if you wanted it.
Really enjoyable trip. Charles commentating on boat was very knowledgeable as was Ranger at battle field. Cruise was relaxing and food was plentiful.
