This tour is ideal for those who want to learn about Charlotte's fascinating history while enjoying its varied architecture from a novel mode of transport.
After a brief orientation to acquaint you with your vehicle, you will play a game of follow-the-leader as your affable guide sets off. You will start by riding to the new cultural spaces of the southern end of Uptown, before riding towards central Charlotte for stories of how the city came to be.
Like a row of little ducklings, you will soon be zipping along at speed as your guide leads you to the historic Fourth Ward neighborhood, location for some of the oldest homes in the city.
The charming neighborhood boasts a handful of late 19th century Victorian-style homes, and is home to the oldest cemetery in the city.
But Charlotte is also a major financial hub and you will get to see some of the city’s magnificent skyscrapers up close. You will zip past outdoor fountains and public art works, glide through Elmwood Cemetery, and nip over to the imposing Hearst Tower near College Street.
Take a gander at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel and Uptown Charlotte's hip bars and clubs. Throughout the tour your guide will feed you titbits about Charlotte's past and explain why it is now becoming the hottest city in the southeast.

It was a great experience.
Fun way to see Charlotte and learn about the city. Guide spoke very fast so it was a little difficult to understand everything he said. But he was informative and knew some interesting history. Segway’s worked great. We stopped at one place that had several places to eat. We were a bit disappointed as we really wanted to be out seeing more of the town. But the guide made up for this and extended the trip a bit more at the end. My recommendation would be to shorten this section of the trip. Most people were not planning to have a meal as it was the middle of the afternoon. But the staff were all friendly and overall it was a good trip.
Wonderful guide who was friendly and knowledgeable! Great training too to ride the Segway. My only suggestion would be to provide at least a couple bottles of cold water for the tour (ours were warm) AND really encourage people to drink at every stop. I got overheated at the very end of the tour but Joshua could not have been more helpful. Very attentive to me and I felt better in minutes., I just think more COLD water and strong suggestions to drink may have prevented my illness. Great tour!
The guides were great and Charlotte was a very Segway friendly city, but the tour was no where near as long as it should have been. We booked a 2-hour tour that started at 11. After watching a 15 minute video and doing a quick training session, we headed out on our tour right around 11:45 and returned at exactly 12:31. We were actually on the Segways for just over 34 minutes.....way short of the 2 hours we paid for. My wife and I were very disappointed. We have done Segway tours in a number of other cities and on every one of them, you were actually on the Segways for the amount of time you paid for. If you had a fast group, the guide found additional places to take, but regardless, you got the time you paid for. Not here, which was a bummer.
The overall tour was great. The directions to get there were a bit lacking, but once we made it, the experience was wonderful. We watched a safety video which made us a little scared, but once we were on the segways they were a lot of fun. Faster than you expect, safer than you feel, the segways take you through uptown to see the sights. My friend from England was impressed with our city and at the end was wondering how he could obtain his own personal segway! The only reason I give 4 stars is because unless you know your way around uptown Charlotte, it is difficult to find the location. You call the number for help and it is a recording with the same information you already have. Also, it was a bit on the high end regarding cost.
The tour was great, the tour guide and owner were wonderful, the parking situation was unclear and the church that charges for parking was aggressively unfriendly. Take the tour, just park elsewhere and walk a block over to the meeting point.
