POV: You stay in a historic warehouse-turned-hotel in the most iconic spot in Copenhagen. Nyhavn—from bustling mercantile center to a haunt for sailors, the whole harbor area is now a buzzing cultural time capsule with a magnetic pull for locals and travelers alike. The long row of colorful houses is arguably the most photographed spot in the whole city, and for good reason. Anyone who has seen photos of the Nyhavn harbor walk dreams of someday visiting (I know I did, anyway). Nestled in two well-preserved 17th century warehouses at the end of the street, you’ll find 71 Nyhavn Hotel, a sunny spot with the closest view onto the Copenhagen Harbour. That was mine and Stephan’s base for a weekend of exploring Copenhagen. During our stay at the hotel, we were charmed by the underplayed elegance and Scandinavian style, with exposed beams of Pomeranian pinewood and leather midcentury furniture in every room.
