Stuff is nice
When we came to checking in at 4p they made us wait for an hour until we got into our room.Rooms are very small and not clean, there is carpet stain and beds are not comfortable, it does not feel like a 4 star hotel. The hotel located next to a lot of homeless and drug dealers area. And the cherry on top, our car got broken into in the parking lot that belongs to the hotel. Not worth the money and doesn’t feel safe!!
We stayed for just one night and really needed a good rest, but unfortunately that wasn’t possible. The mattress was terrible for a hotel of this level — completely worn out with a deep sag in the middle. It moved every time the person on the other side shifted, making it impossible to sleep well. Honestly, it was the worst mattress I’ve ever experienced. The bed linen was also quite old, with pilling along the sides. There were no slippers provided (I'm not sure if they’re supposed to be included, but I personally find it much more comfortable when there are slippers and a bathrobe). Also, I was surprised to find out there was an extra charge for parking — this wasn’t clearly mentioned in advance.
Great location, great staff, comfortable room, attractive styling, delicious breakfast. Self-serve [free] coffee and ice water in the lobby cafe were a welcome bonus.
Overnight valet parking was unusually expensive, especially since a pay lot directly across the street from the hotel offered 24hr in-n-out parking at 60% of the price. We used the valet parking for one night, then noticed people getting their cars across the street much faster than the valets could retrieve ours (not for lack of effort -- the valet team was very friendly and helpful). The A/C in the gym was not working which made it practically unusable during daylight hours due to extreme heat. This probably would not have been a problem in cooler weather.
excellent front desk staff. Faye
food service is amazing. wish it was 24/7
The staff was very friendly and great in coming up with ways to manage the problems.
First thing that was a problem: no mini refrigerators in the room, as advertised on the website. I was told that they're on a first-come, first-serve basis due to the "eco friendly" building that it is. However, there's no way to know about this to even request one. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful, however, and put our bag of groceries in one of the staff refrigerators. So to get something from it, we had to call the desk, and then go downstairs to retrieve our stuff. We were able to get a refrig the next day, however, as someone checked out who had one. Secondly, the mattresses and very soft, and hurt both our backs. Again, the desk person was very friendly and helpful, and had maintenance bring up a board to put under the mattress, which helped a little bit. Next, the water controls are very difficult to manage and regulate the temperature between either super cold or super hot ( no, it wasn't us being stupid). Then the iron didn't work. And lastly, just a comment that the rugs are pretty dirty and the bathroom corners weren't very clean. Overall, not a very pleasant experience, and a surprise for a hilton hotel.
Well appointed and comfortable room, but not a place to spend alot of time in since ours was a compact, standard hotel room. Not a negative point. The location can't really be beat if you're visiting downtown Portland. Overall, it is a very nice hotel.
Arriving by car, parking seems to be a limitation if the cost of valet service is not acceptable to one. We did see an open lot for parking across the street with in/out privileges, which would work fine, but neither the hotel nor the internet showed this as an option when researching the topic before our arrival.
