BanffHuge hotel, beautiful views, amazing staff super friendly.
I really wanted to like this hotel more but there were a few short falls that I think need to be addressed. Firstly, my room was paid for as a deluxe king room, the pillow sheets were a little rough, there was no water or even a paid mini bar in the room and for a hotel like this, I think that is pretty bad and certainly for the price I paid for 3 nights. (Like just 2 complimentary bottles would have been nice) The main issue for me as a 5”11 person, was the bathroom was so small, and worse part the toilet was literally so close to the wall. I couldn’t even properly sit on it and had to sit sideways which is very uncomfortable. Then one night I wanted to eat at the hotel, so I asked which place for a good steak. I got the ribeye and it was tasteless and so tough - they clearly dried this out and didn’t add salt after cooking. $90 ribeye - not good. The restaurant was called 1888. Lastly, I wanted to use the spa, and while they have great facilities, I think it needs an upgrade and also explaining what is included in the room. I paid an extra $99 for 3 hours and the sauna wasn’t even hot enough in the women’s locker room. (Then I found out I could have used the communal one) like it’s not difficult to explain what is part of the room and what isn’t. Sadly, I wanted to love this place so much but too many shortfalls I wouldn’t stay again.
