Grand Central Hotel Barcelona is a design hotel offering fantastic views of the Gothic Quarter and Barcelona Cathedral from its rooftop infinity pool. It has stylish rooms and free high-speed WiFi. The elegantly refurbished hotel is housed in an early 20th-century building and it is a clear example of the Catalan Noucentisme. The air-conditioned rooms at the Grand Hotel Barcelona have a modern design. They are equipped with a 4K high-definition TV´s with Chromecast . Each one has a bathroom with a large, rain-effect shower and luxury toiletries. The restaurant offers an authentic Spanish-style dining experience with small "platillos" to be shared, as well as a selection of over 150 local and national wines. An excellent culinary proposal that will make you feel like a local. La Terraza del Central, in the rooftop, is the perfect place to enjoy a dinner, a cocktail or both overlooking the city lights of Barcelona. The hotel has a fitness center and massage services are also offered. Rooms too small
Entrance not very impressive Outdated
The staff on reception, the roof terrace, nice rooms
Most if the staff on the roof terrace were awful - really rude and unwelcoming. Because of this I will never return to the hotel.
Fantastic staff service and awesome location
Rooms were too quiet
The location is great, it was our favorite thing about the place. In general, definitely a beautiful renovation, fancy and a rooftop with a great view of the city. The staff was helpful in most cases, the cleaning ladies were very pleasant.
The start - My husband and I arrived here for our honeymoon, 4 days after our wedding day. I let the staff know this upfront but no one congratulated us even once (not even saying about anything else that could have been done by a 5-star hotel). On the first day, we were waiting for our check-in for 7 hours (from 8 am to 3 pm) and it looked like no one even tried to check-in us earlier although there were free rooms of our type available on booking.com. The facilities - We hated that the windows did not open and we couldn't ever get fresh air. Although the design of our room was very modern, it wasn't very practical - very little room for storage of your own things (some storage compartments are so high that you can't use them; others are filled with the hotel's brochures and mini bar), my husband kept his things in a suitcase for a whole week eventually. The bathroom - door never closed property/completely from the start, which made it hear everyone's everything all the time. While taking the shower, water easily spilled over and made the floor always wet. Soundproofing with the corridors was not perfect. We also asked for a second chair in the room since the room was for 2 people but only one could have a place to sit at first - this was done. In general all cosmetics were provided only for 1 person and some of them were never renewed. Same story with face towels, which I personally do not like. It was very unpleasant to experience such a constant economy while you pay a lot. We also asked for water to be renewed at 2-3 pm instead of the evening but this was done only once after the request. The money - First of all, they tell you about an obligation to pay €100 per day as a deposit (not €100 overall as it says on booking.com). This money just gets stuck at the hotel for your whole visit.
Loved the location. Easily accessible to so many sites we wanted to see. All were within walking distance
The shower taps and drain were difficult to figure out. The latest technology isn’t always the best.
Excellent location in the heart of Barcelona that was a short walk to many points of interest with a lot of good restaurants nearby. The bed was very comfortable, the room had black out shades which was nice if you didn't want sunlight in the room too early, nice size bottles and well stocked mini bar, great cocktails in the lounge and pool deck. A great pool deck outside on the top floor with nice views and an infinity pool. Both restaurants had good menus. Staff was very friendly and happy to assist with any needs.
No desk in the room, no rooms with a balcony and like many properties in Spain, wish the sound proofing between rooms was better.
