The hotel was beautiful and walking distance to everything. Very friendly and helpful staff.
We were at property for 4 days and could never get a spot at the carousel, in the bar. That was my only disappointment.
Someone went through my bags while we were out of the room. Nothing was taken. Very old and dated bedding. Two pillows smelled used
Location and the pool
Great hotel in the center of New Orleans. Hotel is a very comfortable hotel in the center of action in New Orleans. Historic carousel bar with a good atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Hotel was clean and well maintained. Definitely recommended for a short stay in New Orleans. Rooms were better than standard and spacious. I asked for a walk in shower and those facilities were fantastic. This was my 2nd time at the hotel.
Hotel has two main problems as I see it as well as being an expensive place to stay. 1. Bar is always packed, so it's not easy to find a seat or get served for a drink even during weekdays. People are usually cued up like 4 year olds waiting for a turn on the carousel bar. Not easy to find a seat and is a problems for those with mobility issues. 2. The food is not good in the restaurant. I would have expected that the food in a central location in New Orleans be excellent. However, what I and the people I was travelling with got was well below par for New Orleans. Expensive food, and trying to be fine dining, but nowhere near that. Food was mediocre at best, poor at worst. Chef needs to rip this up and start again as it really let's the place down. Best go elsewhere for food if staying there as there are plenty of good alternative options in the area. Cost and quality of food are the reason for just 7 stars.
