Budget
Get an early flight out there so you can still make the most out of the day. From the airport go straight to the Therme Spa - the largest spa in Europe! From around £30 for an all day ticket with three different zones - you can start the day with a massage, visit the many saunas and then end on some water slides. You can get an Uber straight from the airport - transport is so cheap there and will only cost around a fiver!
If you're a big vampire fan, I definitely recommend this day trip spend the day doing this. First stop will be Bran Castle - known as Dracula's Castle - this wasn't actually his residence but it is a historic building that is a must visit.
Next stop is free time in Brasov City - this city is so cute and it was giving mini shrek town. Such colourful buildings to see whilst trying some traditional Romanian food. They also have some cute local market stalls where you can buy some souvenirs for home. This reminded me of being in Germany because of the buildings - and funnily enough, the town was influenced by German Saxons.
Next stop is Peles Castle This castle is by far the most beautiful castle I have ever been to. I'm not usually a person to go to historic places like this but this was unreal! The architecture and design is a masterpiece. Overall, this was £15pp and I would recommend going with the tour guide as it is the easiest way to get to all these places without the hassle. The castle entries were then around 40 Euros altogether. Definitely worth the experience as there is not much else to do in the centre of Bucharest so why not venture out a bit.
Before your night flight, spend the day exploring the city. Start by having brunch at the Van Gogh Cafe then make your way to the Stavropoleos Monastery just 2 minutes away from the cafe. This is completely free and has gorgeous architecture. You can also visit the Romanian Athenaeum on the way if you're wanting to see more architecture. Talk a walk around and make your way to Palace of Parliament and their replica of the Arc de Triumph. Herăstrău Park is on the way and you can go on a bike ride or sit by the lake if the weather is nice. There are also lots of street stalls selling corn - I would recommend because that was the best corn of the cob I've had. There are so many sights to see in this city but I would say you only need one day to see it all!
