Toronto is one of our favourite Canadian cities to visit, particularly in the summer with the heat is one, all the venues are booked with activities, festivals, concerts and sports outings - and of course the very neat downtown core, harborfront, distillery district and food scene on King & Queen east of the city. Toronto is great for couples, families, friends and of course business travel. The city is highly accessible through train, transit, car, bike or ride share. Here is a guide of our favourite spots to visit, stay and eat. Enjoy!
Here is a collection of some of the restaurants and places to eat and treat yourself while visiting. Bar Isabel's Spanish-inspired tapas are perfect for a cozy date night. Honey's Ice Cream serves up the most decadent flavors – a must-try for dessert lovers. El Catrin Destileria offers vibrant Mexican cuisine and a stunning patio in the Distillery District. Café Landwer’s breakfast is divine, with a Mediterranean twist. For chocolate lovers, SOMA Chocolatemaker is heaven. Balzac's Distillery offers the perfect coffee fix in a beautiful setting. Terroni’s authentic Italian dishes are simply unforgettable. Boxcar Social’s craft coffee and whiskey make it our go-to hangout. Exploring the historic Distillery District is a treat, with its art galleries and boutiques. Dundas Square’s energy is infectious, a great spot for events. And Kensington Market’s eclectic mix of food and culture keeps us coming back. Toronto, we love you!
Delicious Spanish tapas with some of the best cured meat, grilled pork and other dishes. Book early for a spot on the patio and hangout while the sun sets on the city. A cozy spot perfect for a date night, Bar Isabel offers Spanish-inspired tapas and an intimate atmosphere. The seafood and charcuterie are standout dishes, paired perfectly with their unique cocktails.
100% plant based ice cream. They do only one thing and they are (in my opinion) maybe the best in city and even country at it - best we have personally ever had. So much so, the we uber it to our hotel when we need proper vegan ice cream. Do not miss. This spot is a dessert lover's paradise, offering a range of decadent ice cream flavors. The unique and gourmet selections make it a must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth.
Absolute favourite breakfast spot downtown, plus they have other locations. The shakshuka and cafe/bakery are top notch. Known for its delicious breakfast and Mediterranean-inspired dishes, Café Landwer is a great spot to start the day. The cozy ambiance and friendly service make it a favorite for brunch lovers.
Great coffee shot with one of the coolest aesthetics in the Distillery district. They have multiple locations around the city. Situated in a historic building, Balzac’s Distillery is perfect for coffee aficionados. The rustic charm and expertly brewed coffee make it a great spot to relax and enjoy a cup.
Must-see area that you can spend an afternoon, evening or day in. Some of the best food, drinks and shops in the city. This historic area is filled with art galleries, boutiques, and restaurants. The cobblestone streets and preserved architecture provide a charming backdrop for exploration.
We had an amazing week exploring Toronto! From the cozy, Spanish-inspired Bar Isabel to the decadent treats at Honey's Ice Cream, our taste buds were on a constant adventure. El Catrin Destileria's vibrant Mexican dishes and Café Landwer's Mediterranean breakfasts added zest to our days. SOMA Chocolatemaker was a chocolate lover’s dream, while Balzac’s Distillery provided the perfect coffee fix. We savored authentic Italian at Terroni and enjoyed craft coffee and whiskey at Boxcar Social. Liberty Village's trendy vibe and Kensington Market's eclectic mix of food and culture rounded out our trip. For our next adventures, we recommend exploring the vibrant music scene in Austin, Texas, the rich cultural heritage of New Orleans, Louisiana, and the historic charm of Savannah, Georgia. Each city offers its own unique blend of culture, cuisine, and entertainment, perfect for your next getaway. Safe travels!
